Sculptor, Daniel Chester French created this marble version in 1917.
Perhaps French’s most famous work was that of Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. However, it is curious to me that any memorial to Lincoln should be built. Of course, history is written by the victor in all conflict, but James Bovard puts the myth of Lincoln’s greatness in perspective here.
