Sigma 70 – 300mm F4 – 5.6 DG Macro lens

In another article in April, I wrote about the Pentax K30 with 18 – 135mm lens. I have been using the camera for about 5 months and really like it. The color, clarity and contrast offered by this digital format lens is very impressive and so far, I have only shot in the automatic mode. When I advance to the level of using the manual mode, I suspect I will have exceptional results as well. Since purchasing the K30, I’ve had the good fortune to stumble into some great sale prices for accessories like, an OBEN tri-pod on sale for just over $100 and a Pentax 50mm F1.8 lens for portrait work for about $120. Recently, B&H Photo sent notice of another sale. They were offering the Sigma 70 -300mm Macro lens at the low price of $140. I had a few instances where a longer range lens would prove useful, but most of the lenses that I looked at for that type of photography are very expensive. This sale price seemed good and the reviews on this product here and here were generally positive. It is an economy lens and I expect it will serve my needs well.
